Children's Christmas Party

Purok 1 Christmas Party

What a better way to enjoy abundant blessings than to share it with others. That is what Mr. and Mrs. Frederick and Rhona Cadlaon felt when they sponsored a Christmas Party in Purok No. 1.

Early December 2007, Erick and Rhona were thinking of something different to do on their annual Christmas vacation in the Philippines.  They thought of a Christmas party for the children of Purok No. 1.  They brought gifts and food stuffs all the way from Jakarta where they reside, to give to the approximately 200 children ages 4 to 12, whose names had been gathered prior to their coming.

Although preparation was very short, the Christmas Party was successful bringing joy especially to the children.   Present were of course, Mr. and Mrs Jimmie Cadlaon with their children and grandchildren, Purok 1 residents, friends and other people from nearby puroks who came to witness and enjoy the event. There were approximately 400 to 500 people  around.  The Party started with a Thanksgiving mass officiated by Parish Priest Rev. Alfred Viernes, followed  by  a short message from Frederick.  The children were very excited as party hosts Grace Cadlaon-Raņola and Rhona Rodil-Cadlaon thrilled them with the many fun/parlor games and prizes.  Food was served and enjoyed by everyone-children, parents and guests.  Faces beamed with joy as Santa Claus came  (Junn Timbreza,  husband of Jasmin Cadlaon clad in his Santa Suit) giving gifts to the children as Rhona distributed cash envelopes to them.

The Party ended with residents thanking and applauding the Cadlaon family for their generosity and for the successful Christmas Party which was held for the first time  in the purok.  As for Frederick and Rhona, seeing happy children's faces and grateful smiles brought much joy and meaning to their Christmas vacation.

Thanks to all the volunteers, Marybeth Cadlaon, Mr. and Mrs. Along Narag, as coordinators especially with the preparation of the venue, stage, tables and chairs, children's names, etc.
